Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies

I grew up watching my mom make this cookie every year for Christmas holiday. This is a very delicious cookie and it is very quick and easy to make.

Recipe   Makes: about 3 dozens

1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg, unbeatened
1 tsp. vanilla
1 bag of kiss candies

Mix together, flour, baking soda, and salt then set it aside. Cream together the shortening, peanutbutter, sugar, and brown sugar well. Add the egg and vanilla.  Blend in the flour mixture. Beat well. Shape the dough in ball, roll in sugar and place on greased cookie sheet.  Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes. Remove the sheet from oven and place kiss candy on top firmly pressed. Return cookies to oven for another 2 to 5 minutes or until golden brown.
